When it comes to learning a foreign language, the younger the better! Preschoolers encode languages in hardwired neuronal circuits which facilitate them to learn with ease and speed. The correlation between foreign language education and academic achievement in math, science etc. has been well documented.

Research also proves that continuing the study of a new language year after year ensures proficiency.

Fortunately, Mrs. Charudattan who teaches French to K - 8 Blue Wave students at PKY since 1990, is already here in campus to teach the Baby Gators also!

French is an elective and part of the curriculum in high school at PKY, as well as Eastside, Buchholz, Gainesville High and other area schools. Two years of a foreign language credit is required for graduation and college entrance.

‘Madame Judy’, as her students call her, has received many awards including the National Honor of “Excellence in teaching” award from the American Association of Teachers of French. She conducts ‘Le Congrès de la Culture Française en Floride’ - French Congrès - for children as a yearly performance, where every participant will be recognized at his/her level.
