In 2016, The Alliance française Gainesville, a world-wide organization that originated in Paris, France, recognized
“Madame Judy Charudattan” for outstanding teaching and community initiatives during more than 25
years teaching French in Gainesville.
Developing and directing the Kindergarten through eighth grade French Congrès, Charudattan has
received many accolades and national and international honors including the Dorothy Ludwig Excellence
in Teaching award given by the American Association of Teachers of French, and a national 2002
Elementary French Teacher if the Year.
She was inducted into the Teachers’ Hall of Fame for her dedication and invaluable contributions to the field of foreign language education. As the director of École française, Charudattan teaches French in the Blue Wave program at P.K. Yonge
developmental Research School, and in the Extended Day Enrichment program at Alachua County Public Schools.
